Senior Security Engineer

Role Description

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will lead the Managed Analytics group in developing highly secure software applications, libraries and tools. You will work in our Cloud & DevOps team to develop libraries that assist project teams in creating highly secure applications, build tools that detect and respond to security issues, patch security issues found in existing applications, and educate our development staff on writing secure software. Additionally, you are an experienced software engineer with a passion for security and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Who You Are

  • Able to design & develop libraries that enable project teams to build highly secure solutions which conform to RA standards
  • A Leader, mentor and coach of other developers in best practices for secure coding
  • Capable of building tools that detect and respond to security issues in our AWS cloud environment
  • Can integrate and maintain security automation testing tools in RA’s commit/deploy & CI/CD environments
  • Enjoy Collaborating/Consulting with project teams developing new capabilities
  • Can perform code reviews to spot potential security problems
  • Able to recommend process improvement in RA’s SDLC to improve security
  • Experience evaluating and recommending 3rd party security tools
  • Want to be a primary contributor to the development and maintenance of RA information security management standards
  • Enjoy being a security evangelist
  • Experience implementing role based security in web applications
  • Proficient in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, C#, C++ or Python
  • Experience debugging JavaScript using web tools such as Firebug
  • Experience implementing secure cloud based solutions, preferably in AWS
  • Capable of switching between working independently and collaborating with colleagues and across teams
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Understand how security standards and regulations such as PCI, SOC2, GDPR and HIPAA impact software design and architecture
  • 3 years’ experience working as a security engineer or related position
  • 7 years’ experience as a software engineer or related position
